A mysterious door & a sneaky 3 year old.

I have always wondered about my children's dreams. From the time my girls were born as they slept they would make the cutest facial expressions and I always wondered what it was they dreamed about. My Dad always said they were dreaming about warm milk when they smiled in their sleep as infants. Now that Kayli is old enough I love trying to get her to talk about what she sees when she is sleeping. I have never had much luck until this morning and I never want to forget about my first peek into Kayli's dreams.

Katherine was the first one up and out of bed this morning which is unusual in itself. I went in to get her because she can't open the door by herself yet and Kayli was lying in bed with her eyes barely cracked open.

Me - Goodmorning sunshine.

Kayli - Lets go through the door mommy.

Me - What door

Kayli - The only door

Me - What is on the other side of the door.

Kayli - Another two doors.

Me - Are you going to go through those two doors.

Kayli - No

Me - Why not

Kayli - Because you are going to be mad

Me - Why

She wouldn't say anything else so I went back to asking about the door.

What does the door look like?

Kayli - It is big and brown.

I asked her about the door some more but I didn't get any information about it other than it had a handle. It's not that funny or amazing or anything but I was excited to get inside her dreams even if only it was a tiny bit. Maybe its a re-occuring dream and she will tell me more about it another day. Maybe not - either way I think it is cool.

I also want to share with you how sneaky and tricky she is. I am so flabbergasted by this its not even funny. We have already established the fact that she doesn't like oatmeal because she calls it baby food. Well I was insisting she eat her oatmeal at breakfast. I was so excited to see that she was actually eating a bite I stopped eating my own oatmeal to watch her. Kayli aware of my gaze gave a sheepish grin and was chewing away happily. In fact she was chewing a little much. What was going on? Kayli was clearly chewing... or was she. I diverted my gaze to Katherine but kept an eye on Kayli. I was amazed to see her raise her spoon to her mouth but not put it inside, lower it back down to the bowl and pretend to chew and swallow, she even faked swallowing!! She was so realistic I couldn't believe it. I am amazed that my three year old has learned that if she does it just right she can pretend to eat her yucky oatmeal and mom will be none the wiser. I didn't let her know that I was on to her. I figure its wiser on my part to let her think she is tricking me that way she doesn't feel the need to perfect her sneakiness. I wonder how many times she has done this before without me realizing. I wonder how many times the dog has consumed her unw
