We were driving home from church late last night (revival this week) Okay full fledged time-out. For those of you who don't know we aren't skipping church these days we have just started going to First Baptist Church in Arlington, we miss Trace dearly but we know that God has called us to Arlington to serve him and we will be there for as long as God wants us to be. Josh is their new youth pastor and we are enjoying this new adventure in life. Alright, we are enjoying our new 45 minute drive home from church (hardly) and we decided it would be fun to entertain our little ones with singing. Both of the girls love to sing and Kayli needed to practice for her special at church this coming Sunday. So after going through the usual Jesus Loves Me, ABC's, The B-I-B-L-E, 123.. (one we made up don't ask), and 'Mockingbird' Josh and I were trying really hard to come up with a new song to teach Kayli. Josh thought of old McDonald had a farm and so we started singing it to her. We decided to start with pigs and as soon as we started oinking we heard Kayli saying 'wait wait wait hold it.'
Dad - What Kayli
Kayli - Pig's don't live on farms.
Dad - Where do they live then?
We look at each other flabergasted, what is going on in this little head of hers anyway? Of course pigs live on farms.
Kayli - Pigs live in mud.
Dad - laughing hysterically can't reply much less stay on his side of the road
Me - Josh get over!
We avoid head on collision with only other car driving so late at night.
Dad - still laughing
Me - Kayli there is lots of mud on farms so pigs do live on the farm. (Someone has to be the logical responsible one and I am the only one for the job.)
We decide to try again. E-I-E-I-O On this farm there was a cat E-I-E-I-
Kayli - Wait!!!!
Dad - What Kayli?
Kayle - (Yup you guessed it.) Cats don't live on farms.
Dad- Where do cats live?
Kayli - (She thinks long and hard about this before answering.) With their parents
Me - With their parents?
Kayli - Yes, with their cat parents. (As if that should make perfect sense, duh Mom.)
I am so unable to even try to rationally explain this one.
So precious, so cute. Josh voted at this point to stop teaching her old Mcdonald. We are going to plan a visit to a farm and then we will work on it again. I guess we have seriously deprived this poor child the joys of visiting a farm thus far.
Before I go I have one more cute little tid-bit I want to remember always. We were at the table eating oatmeal with raisins and craisins this morning. Or at least I was, Kayli wouldn't touch a thing, (she said the oatmeal was baby food and raisins were chipmunk poop - thanks alot Alvin, Theodore, & Simon) and Katherine would only eat raisins that hadn't touched oatmeal. Anyways our roof sprung a leak a while back and just now we are finally getting it fixed and Josh and his team from work are here banging away. Well Katherine starts singing and dancing to the beat of the hammering. It was so cute, I should have searched for the video camera. I mean this kid has some serious rhythm and I have no idea where she got it from because it most certainly is not me or her father. She wasn't singing real words just two different one syllable sounds perfectly in time with the ever changing rhythm of hammering, bouncing away and waving her arms as if she were conducting. It only lasted for a minute but I am convinced I must have a little Mozart. Precious, Precious, Precious
Well my Mozart sounds like she is getting into something she shouldn't so I have to go but I will be sharing much more of the same soon. I don't want to forget anything, they are growing up so fast!
