In the last week or so...

I have had a kid repeatedly open the gate to our backyard to let the dogs out.

So I installed new locks on the gates and have hidden the key.

I have had a kid repeatedly sneak out the front door.

So I installed new locks on all the doors that are super high and completely kid proof... in fact they are mostly Erica proof as well. {If it takes me ten minutes to open the front door when you come a knocking, you know why.}

I have had a kid decide that if he couldn't get out the door he would jump out the window.

I removed all the turn cranks from the windows. It worked for a little while, now I have a hole in one. Nothing a little duct tape couldn't handle.

I have woken up to the smoke alarm because a kid woke up and tried to fix himself mac-n-cheese in the microwave at 6:00 a.m.

I opened all the windows and turned on fans but our house still smells like burnt macaroni. I now make sure to unplug all kitchen appliances before heading to bed...

Good gracious I have to sleep with one eye open these days.

I also have to sleep cuddled up to the drill because if I don't I will wake to the sound of it whirring away causing destruction in the middle of the night.

I'm almost afraid to consider what my little might Houdini will get into next.

At least I know the fire alarms work now. My Dad was worried about that when he learned my little Houdini has a history of playing with lighters and setting the house on fire.

I'd stay and chat longer but I hear the electric can opener whirring away and I'm pretty sure that could potentially cause some damage...
