A Belated Father's Day Tribute

Tonight I fell in love with you all over again. You took the time to sit and work through issues with your teenage daughter tonight.  The crazy thing is she is not even a child you created yet you have voluntarily agreed to lay down your life for her and you sacrificially give. You don't just go through the motions you dig deeply and give and give and give. Even though its uncomfortable and hurts.

I don't know very many men who are able to sit down and admit fault. You apologized for being insensitive and hurting her feelings and welcomed constructive criticism. That, is like, the most amazing display of Daddy sensitivity EVER. Most men don't touch feelings and heart issues with a ten foot pole. You stuck in there and you survived. You have to get up at 4am for a very demanding, difficult job and yet you stayed up until 1am because she needed you. Because it was right.  In doing so you gave her a very tangible expression of love that she can cling to.

You were gentle and firm and showered her with the perfect blend of Daddy love and I am just in complete awe of you. I am literally falling in love with you all over again as I watch you love her at her worst.  I know it seems hopeless, but as a recovering teenage daughter I promise she will eventually recognize the love. Even though she pushes you away today I want you to know it is exactly what she needs. Even though you don't know what you're doing. Even though you feel like a failure. Just keep showing up especially when its messy.

You are absolutely amazing and we are so lucky to have you. You Mr. Hamilton are the absolute BEST Father for OUR girls. You are a picture of God's love to our children and you are helping me see my Heavenly Father's love for me clearer than I ever have before.

I'd call that a Daddy win.
