The Word(s) on The Street

We have found that as a foster parent when you are out and about and you run into friends, family, complete strangers… whatever, certain phrases keep coming up in conversation over and over again.These words just sort of tumble out… we usually just smile and nod. Here is what we really want to say. But don't. It's awkward. Just because we are doing this doesn't mean we think you need to or should be. {Although if you would it would be really REALLY cool and would make some kid somewhere who needs to know unbiased, unwarranted, pure love for loves sake really REALLY happy.}

"I couldn't love them like my own."

It's easier than you think. It's faster than you think.

"I couldn't let them go back."

It's harder than you think. They're worth it.

"I couldn't do it. I don't have the patience."

Like seriously. You think I do?!?!?!? I don't have the patience. Mr. doesn't have the patience. Not with our bio's or our fosters. We make mistakes. We apologize. We live out the gospel daily offering grace and mercy. Towards them. And towards ourselves. If you are or have ever met the perfect parent please introduce me. I need lessons. BIG TIME.

"We're to busy we don't have time."

You've got more than you realize. Use it well. You won't regret it when you're all out.

{Just In Case}
