So before I had kids I always envisioned nap time going something like this: you enjoy a nice lunch, tuck your kid into bed, read a book, sing a song, turn off the light and there you go--nap time. Not even!
Kayli cracks me up she is so funny. She drags out lunch as long as she possibly can. Seriously, how long can it take to eat one hot dog? Kayli has to have the world record! I usually lay Katherine down before Kayli is finished with her bottle/pacifier. Once I tempt Kayli away from the table with the promises of reading a book its into the bedroom where Katherine is most usually already asleep. Thank Goodness! Kayli picks out a book which we read, then we sing 'Jesus Loves You' a couple hundred times. Then it is time for nap-time prayers. Not only is it God bless Mommy, Daddy, & Katherine, but Grandma, Grandpa, NaNa, Paw Paw, Aunt Jennifer, Aunt Leslie, Aunt Jessica, Uncle Greg & Keaton. Today she included Marshall and the rest of the LBT Nursery gang. Sometimes she includes other random people she remembers from various places. Finally she snuggles down under the covers with her stuffed animal of choice and favorite baby doll. Kiss the animal, kiss the doll, kiss Kayli and I"m out of there. I think I've done it, nap time achieved. But I know better. The second I step out the door its, 'mommy say goodnight to Mr. Fishy.' So of course I say go back in and say goodnight to her beloved beta fish that sits on her nightstand. I exit. 'Mommy say goodnight to snowglobe.' Kayli has a snowglobe collection on her headboard shelf. I say goodnight to each of them and exit. Mommy they want kisses. I re-enter, kiss each snowglobe goodnight. I exit. 'Mommy kiss Mr. Fishy.' I re-enter and blow Mr. Fishy a kiss. I exit. 'Mommy kiss sissy.' I enter and pretend to kiss Katherine because I don't want to wake the blessed napping child up. I exit. 'Mommy I want water.' I get her a glass of water, and a glass of milk for backup. She drinks a little of each. Another round of kisses for everything within her eyesight. I exit. I hold my breath. Silence! Finally nap-time achieved!!
